Impression Guidelines.

The primary impression for this event will be that of a United States Regular soldier in Company C, 10th Infantry.  The given scenario calls for troops in work details during the hottest part of the year, historically.  The following guidelines are a base from which you can build upon to truly "look the part".  Any questions regarding the impression guidelines should be directed to event coordinators.

  1. 1872 pattern"folding" campaign hat

  2. 1872 pattern cap ("kepi') with company letter appropriately placed

  3. 1858 pattern forage cap with company letter appropriately placed

  4. Civilian hat of appropriate style and construction

Coat:

  1. 1872 pattern fatigue blouse

  2. 1872 pattern dress coat

  3. 1858 pattern fatigue blouse

​

Trousers:

  1. 1858 pattern sky blue kersey trousers

​

Shirt:

  1. 1874 pattern US issue shirt

  2. Civilian or homespun shirt of appropriate style and construction.

Drawers:

  1. Federal issue canton flannel drawers

  2. Civilian or homespun drawers of appropriate style and construction

​

Footwear:

  1. Federal issue brogans

  2. Boots/shoes of appropriate style and construction

  • 1872 pattern infantry brace system

  1. Waist belt with two-piece buckle and top loops to receive shoulder straps of brace system

  2. Blackened leather shoulder straps with inlaid brass hooks for valise

  • Cartridge Boxes

  1. Hagner Pouch pattern No. 1

  2. Hagner pouch pattern No. 2

  • Bayonet scabbard

  1. 1870 pattern steel scabbard with swivel mount

  2. 1873 pattern Rice Trowel bayonet scabbard

  3. 1862 pattern 7-rivet leather scabbard

  • Go without leathers

  1. 1872 pattern unpainted blue duck haversack with brass hooks and meat can in place

Canteen:

  1. 1858 pattern canteen with iron chain connected to strap guide of canteen

  2. 1872 pattern canteen with brass chain mounted to spout of canteen

 

Knapsack:

  1. 1872 pattern Valise with mounting hardware

  1. M1866 Springfield (2nd Allin conversion) chambered in .50-70

  2. 1873 pattern Rice Trowel bayonet (for use with M1873 Springfield​

Personal Effects:  Not required, but appropriate if desired.

  1. Belt knife of appropriate style and construction

  2. Tobacco in a period correct form (no modern cigarettes!!!) in a period container 

  3. Toiletries of period correct manufacture

  4. Bible of period correct manufacture

  5. Cards, dice, books, or other entertainments items

  6. Eye wear must be of period correct style and construction.  Please, NO MODERN EYE WEAR.  Non-colored contacts are acceptable.

  7. Suspenders must be of period manufacture.  Please, NO MODERN ELASTIC SUSPENDERS.

  8. All jewelry must be of period correct manufacture.  Please, NO MODERN JEWELRY.
